If you’re dreaming of a timeless, elegant winter wedding in New England, Hannah and Pris’s celebration at Wadsworth Mansion might just be all the inspiration you need. As a Connecticut wedding photographer, I’ve seen many beautiful weddings—but this one stands out for its heart, style, and breathtaking moments.
From the velvet-clad bridal party to a sky lit with fireworks, every detail of this winter wedding was effortlessly chic and deeply personal. And with Wadsworth Mansion as the backdrop, it was nothing short of spectacular.
A Winter Wedding Dream at Wadsworth Mansion
Wadsworth Mansion is one of my favorite venues to photograph in Connecticut. It combines old-world architecture with sprawling natural grounds—a rare gem for couples who want both grandeur and romance. In winter, the mansion takes on a quiet, ethereal beauty that made Hannah and Pris’s day feel even more intimate and cinematic.
The morning started with soft light filtering through tall windows as Hannah and Pris got ready in separate suites. There was a calm joy in the air—no rush, no stress—just two people preparing to marry their best friend.

Black Velvet and Winter Whites
Their wedding party was effortlessly stylish. The bridesmaids wore floor-length black velvet dresses that felt bold and sophisticated against the season’s muted backdrop. That texture—soft, matte, and dramatic—photographed beautifully. It created a striking contrast with the all-white floral arrangements that appeared throughout the day.
Speaking of flowers, everything was classic. Crisp white roses, lisianthus, and ranunculus were woven into bouquets and centerpieces. The effect was elegant and understated, allowing the focus to stay on the couple and their connection.
Golden Hour Portraits in the Trees
While most winter weddings tend to lean on cozy candlelight and indoor moments, Hannah and Pris lucked out with an absolutely stunning golden hour. The sky was clear. The light had that warm, late-afternoon glow that makes skin look radiant and eyes sparkle.
We stepped outside just before sunset for their portraits. The landscaped grounds of Wadsworth Mansion glowed in the golden light, creating a painterly backdrop that made their love the centerpiece. These were some of my favorite images of the day—joyful, quiet, radiant.
As a Connecticut wedding photographer, I’m always chasing light. And on this day, we found it.
The Ceremony: Intimate, Emotional, and Full of Heart
The ceremony took place indoors in one of the mansion’s grand rooms. Framed by soft candlelight and white florals, the couple exchanged vows in front of their closest family and friends. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. Their vows were personal, raw, and real—the kind of promises that remind you why you do this work in the first place.
One of the joys of being a wedding photographer in Connecticut is witnessing the wide range of couples and love stories. Hannah and Pris were the kind of couple who radiate joy. Their love was palpable in every glance, every hand squeeze, every shared laugh. Capturing that kind of authenticity is why I do what I do.
A Firework-Filled Celebration
After dinner, guests were led outside for a surprise fireworks show. Against the dark winter sky, bright colors exploded above the mansion. The look on everyone’s faces—especially the couple’s—was pure delight.
Photographing fireworks can be tricky, but with the right timing and settings, I captured several beautiful frames of Hannah and Pris silhouetted against the light. It was one of those moments where time seemed to pause. The kind you’ll frame on your wall and never forget.
Reception Moments: Candlelight, Connection, and Dancing
Inside, the reception was glowing with candlelight and soft uplighting. The tables were set with simple white linens, black candles, and elegant flatware. The minimalism of the décor let the natural beauty of the space shine.
Toasts were heartfelt and often hilarious. The dance floor was packed all night. There was an ease and warmth among the guests that made it clear: this was a tight-knit community celebrating two people deeply loved.
As a Connecticut wedding photographer, I often find the best images come from these unscripted, in-between moments. A hand resting on a shoulder. Laughter mid-spin. The flicker of candlelight catching a tear. This wedding had those in abundance.
Why Wadsworth Mansion Is One of the Best Winter Wedding Venues in Connecticut
If you’re considering a winter wedding in Connecticut, Wadsworth Mansion should be at the top of your list. The venue’s architecture, natural light, and ability to transition seamlessly from indoor to outdoor events make it perfect year-round—but especially magical in the winter months.
It offers warmth without feeling cramped, grandeur without being overwhelming, and privacy without isolation. For couples like Hannah and Pris, it provided the perfect canvas for a meaningful and memorable celebration.
From a Connecticut Wedding Photographer’s Perspective
Photographing Hannah and Pris’s wedding reminded me why I love what I do. It’s not just about pretty portraits (although we got plenty of those). It’s about documenting love in all its forms—quiet, joyful, unfiltered.
As a Connecticut wedding photographer, I’m constantly inspired by the couples I work with. Hannah and Pris brought grace, style, and soul to their celebration. I’m so honored to have been there to capture it.
