It was the perfect day. The perfect day to have a wedding, and really to do anything else besides. The air was brisk, the sun was out, the weather was just right for once. Melissa lifted her face and closed her eyes. A cool breeze kissed her cheeks and she embraced the warmth from the sun as she made her way up the steps of the old church. Rays of light fell through the leaves around her,like light catchers, casting a golden hue beneath the trees. The vivid colors of the autumn foliage perfectly contrasted the cloudless blue sky and provided the perfect backdrop for Melissa and Dillon’s wedding day. There’s just a certain feeling in the air at fall-time. She couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day, and she couldn’t be happier. It was made all the more beautiful by the miracle of two hearts becoming one. Two people promising to spend their lives together. Indescribable love between soulmates. Yes, it was as perfect as perfect can be, and the bright autumn hues surround them made it seem as though, for today at least, the whole world was celebrating their love. Dillon watched his bride draw closer to him with slow and steady graceful steps and knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he wouldn’t trade these moments for anything in the world. The rhythm of his heartbeat quickened. With one intimate look, she had captured his heart. And he willingly relented it to her. Because she was offering hers to him in return. And, ironically so, in the midst of dying leaves and ending seasons, they started their new life together, with new hope and renewed joy.
