Last month I journeyed over to the land of castles and leprechauns and, while we never found the pot of gold, I realized why Ireland is the one that holds that myth. It rained every day we were there, and at the end of every rain storm there was a beautiful rainbow that stretched all the way across the sky. Every day it took my breath away!! We weren’t quite so lucky to have that kind of weather for Orla and Brian’s engagement session at Shankill Castle. In fact, it POURED during their entire session. But because rain makes everything more romantic, we just went with it and had a great time! The grounds of Shakill Castle are absolutely beautiful, and the lovely owner gave us a tour of the grounds. Shakill hosts events and is also a B&B. Upon arriving, there was a group of women headed out from their bachelorette weekend and it looked so cozy! The fire was lit inside and Elizabeth, the owner, had just finished making them a lovely meal. Next time I visit Ireland, I intend on booking a stay at Shankill.
For Orla and Brian’s engagement session, we shot around the castle itself, around the apple orchard, and then near the entrance gate. Had the weather been more favorable, I could’ve spent HOURS photographing them there. Every nook and cranny was just as beautiful as the next!
