They met on Match.com and had a little bit of time of witty banter before deciding to meet up. Lacee loved flying and Greg was an air traffic controller, so they had something to chat about right off the bat from those first email exchanges. It was a Sunday in February right after a big snow that Gregg was a gentleman and drove to Worcester for a date of Lacee’s choosing. Sledding! There aren’t many options for sledding hills in Worcester, but Lacee managed to find one. They arrived at a parking lot with just one sled in hand and they could hear kids laughing from a far but had no snow hill in sight. “Hmmm,” said Lacee, “I think it’s through that small patch of woods.” After the awkward “nice to meet you” stranger exchanges, they put on their snow gear and began their trek through the woods. The snow was past Lacee’s knees and the journey ahead looked to be a mile long, “What was I thinking, we could’ve just met for a nice lunch..” she thought to herself. Finally, after a, what seemed like forever, hike through the woods in 3 feet of snow, they made it! They made quite a few trips up and down giggling like the rest of the children sledding. Sharing a sled on the first date, might as well be the same as kissing on the first date. They got back to their cars, parched from their excursion. Lacee awkwardly offered Gregg a half drunken bottle of water. He politely declined. “Well I blew this one, I dragged this guy through the woods in 3 feet of snow, to go sledding around a bunch of screaming children, and all I can offer him to drink is half a bottle of water!… he’s walking back over here, he’s going to say nice to meet you, I have to go.. but I’ll call you.” But much to her surprised, he smiled and said”Hey, I’m hungry, do you want to get something to eat?”. Little did Lacee know, Gregg had the best time climbing through the woods in the snow. He loves the snow! They ended the date with a sushi dinner, not knowing that one day they’d have their own favorite sushi spot of their own and probably the most fun first date story ever!
