From the very first email, I knew I liked Jenna. It’s, unfortunately, not uncommon to receive inquiries that say “please give me your pricing and package information thanks”. Complete with improper punctuation and so little effort that even a capital letter was asking too much. Which tells me one thing: they copied and pasted that email to at least 10 other photographers and were going to meet with the ones who had the best deal. But Jenna? Jenna wrote me a novel. 1252 words, to be exact. She talked about how much she loves her job teaching Farm Science to at-risk children. She gushed about how, though it wasn’t love at first sight, her and Ian are high school sweethearts and their friendship is the foundation of their relationship. She made it clear how important her family was to her and that they would be a special part of her day in various ways. And, finally, she dreamed out loud of what she wanted her wedding to look like, but not before she got all the other, more important things, out of the way. And when I met with her and Ian, I could see that this love they had was a special one. It was one that came from the deepest parts of their being, and a love that put others before themselves. It was sacrificial, genuine, authentic, and absolutely beautiful. And on top of that, they were fun!
I got together with Jenna and Ian two days ago to do their engagement photos in New Haven at Yale University. And you would never have known that their wedding was just 4 days away because they were both perfectly relaxed and chilled. But why should I be surprised, because that is exactly the type of people they are.
Usually before we start the session, I ask my clients if they are nervous about getting engagement photos, and they instinctively always respond with a resounding “yes”!. As did Jenna and Ian. But they were totally lying to me because, as you can see, they are total naturals.
Jenna has one of the best laughs I’ve heard in a long time!
Jenna, you are a total hottie!
Ian never got his high school senior photos done, so we joked that this was now the time. 🙂
I grew up in New Haven and I’ve been to Yale Campus a bazillion times but, for some reason, I NEVER KNEW this place was there!! It is so, so beautiful!
I have a slight obsession with navy and, as far as I’m concerned, every client I have could wear it for their engagement photos and I’d be totally ok with that!
Jenna really wanted to do some engagement photos in and around the Sterling memorial Library after seeing this session I did there a couple years ago. Unfortunately the library was closed, but we were still able to soak up some of the pretty light outside the library.
Only 2 more days, you guys!!! Can’t wait to see you on Sunday!
BEAUTIFUL
