The snow fell quietly and slowly as the finishing touches were put on her hair and makeup. To most people, a slow snowfall is little more than a pretty view out the window, but for Erin and Brett I think it signified something a bit deeper. They will be the first to tell you that much in their life is done quickly and in a rush. After 2 days of knowing each other Brett showed up at Erin’s door a 2 a.m. and told her that they should start dating because he was going to marry her. When Brett moved to Georgia the following year for hockey, Erin went to visit him and 2 days later he decided to move back home. When they went to look for their first apartment just to get ideas of what was out there, they picked the first one and signed a lease that night. Another morning they decided to go look at kittens for fun, and ended up adopting one that day. And lastly, when we got engaged they were shocked to find out 10 weeks later that they got pregnant the night of their engagement. While things in their life may come across as fast, the moments they share in between are as though time stops. As that snow fell slowly outside their windows, you could tell that they were soaking it all in. Nobody was in a rush that day, but there was peace and calmness….amidst all the obvious excitement. And my only hope for you, Erin and Brett, is that as these new stages of life unfold that you are able to stop and soak in every second of it. 🙂
