Built in 1927, the Civic Center landmark combines Spanish Colonial Revival and Mediterranean Revival architecture, with an iconic red?tiled dome and a series of elegant arches that frame beautifully landscaped gardens. Located at 100 N. Garfield Avenue in Pasadena, the 1927 Beaux Arts structure offers a variety of backdrops that feel both cinematic and intimate. The site is regularly used for proposals, engagements and pre-wedding portraits because of its iconic architecture, grand archways and European inspired courtyards. Here’s what makes it special:
- Grand dome & archways: The symmetrical dome and archways add elegance and depth to your photos. Standing beneath them feels like stepping into a European palace.
- Inner courtyard & fountain: The courtyard is a quiet, green oasis with classic architecture and a central fountain. It’s perfect for intimate moments away from the crowds.
- Staircases & walkways: Natural light filters through the corridors and staircases, creating soft, cinematic lighting.

In 2025, couples are gravitating toward true-to-color editing rather than overly warm or desaturated tones; they want galleries that will stand the test of time. Alec & Danny loved this approach. We preserved natural hues — their crisp white shirts and the warm, beige stone of the hall — so the images feel timeless. They also embraced the trend toward candid wedding photography.
