I just don’t get it. Every morning I wake up to facebook status updates about trips to Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. My friends are all proud of their addiction to coffee. When I first moved to Denmark, I was told that if I ever truly wanted to integrate into the culture I had to learn to love coffee. The day I left they told me I was practically a Dane, except thar I never got the coffee thing. I love how it smells, but I can’t stand the taste. And in the morning? I’d puke if that is what it took to wake me up. Instead, I have a bit of a routine. This routine is a surefire way to wake me up and it goes something like this….

(literally) Roll out of bed.

Stumble across room.

Put on bathrobe.

Sit on couch.

Open up my bible and read a chapter.

Go to my computer and check my email.

…then facebook.

…and then justinmarantz.com.

Yeah, I check Justin and Mary’s blog every morning. And 90% of the time there is an update because Mary seems to enjoy getting up at the crack of dawn. And on occasion I check Jasmine Star’s blog right after. A little witty banter, a few pictures to make me go “Gah!!”, and a teal-ish color that I love.

That, my friends, is my cup of coffee. Take it or leave it.

  1. I love your routine and need to develop something similar with that whole B-I-B-L-E thing. 🙂 Also, I used to work as a barista in high school at a quaint coffee shop north of Seattle. And you know what? I rarely had coffee. I prefer it like a dessert. Loaded with sugar. Thanks for the post, it was cute.

I don’t get the whole coffee thing either!
It smells way better than it tastes…I agree!!!

  3. Dani says:

This blog is part of my morning ritual… or every other morning. 🙂

    LOVE YA BIG!!!

  4. Mary Marantz says:

Ahhhh, I LOVE you!! This post was just the happy sauce that I needed!! Now if we can just get you hooked on the Starbucks, we can be BFF….forever! 🙂

    xoxo
