I met Zach and Becca a little over a year ago when they were part of the launch of our Middletown campus of City Church. They led one of our welcome teams together, and it was obvious that they had an amazing connection with each other. As I got to know them more, I remember bugging Becca every now and then and saying something like “So….you and Zach. What’s the deal?” and she would just smile and say “we are just best friends”. But to those who observed them, it was so apparent that they should be MORE than just best friends. I think Zach knew that too, because you could see a certain sparkle in his eye when he was talking to Becca. It was obvious that he was crushing hard on this best friend of his. One Sunday morning earlier this year Zach came into church, nearly skipping and with the biggest smile I’ve ever seen on his face. He leaned in while talking to Adam and I and said “So….Becca and I have been dating for the last four days”. He was so giddy with excitement! Adam and I both smiled and laughed, because it was so fun to see him that happy. He quickly followed his first statement with “Give me 3 months. I’m gonna propose. I’m already looking at rings. Gotta nail this thing down ASAP”. Adam and I laughed again, but it was clear that Zach was a man on a mission and knowing he had found an amazing woman, he wasn’t about to drag his feet. Not long after, on a warm summer night, Zach propose to his best friend on the beach and she happily and excitedly said yes. It’s been such a joy seeing Zach and Becca start their lives together, grow together, and dream together. I’ve always said that the best start a marriage can have is that on a foundation of friendship, and these two have the friends thing down pat. We recently met up at The Barns at Wesleyan for their engagement session, and it was so much fun to document their love for each other.
