The doors opened and everyone held their breath as she made her way down the long church aisle. Not a dry eye in the place, because everyone knew what this day meant to them. It was the culmination of years of hoping, praying, waiting and trusting. Trusting the God that they believed in to provide that perfect person for them. And that day, as she walked down the aisle towards him, everyone knew that both of their prayers had been answered….and exceeded.
There are not words to convey the beauty that was the day Brian and Desiree got married. The air was thick and the only answer I can come up with was that God was there. He was definitely, definitely there. Tears streamed down both of their faces as vows were made, songs were sung, and smiles were exchanged. It was the most beautiful and emotional of all weddings I have ever been to. It was, really, what love is all about.
Brian and Des, thank you so very much for believing in me to “get it” with what you were looking for in your wedding photos, both in style and heart. You two are an inspiration to many of us out there who dream of having such a strong tie and bond to that special someone. Love you guys!
I also want to give a huuuuuuuge shout out and thanks to Peter Mercado who second shot with me. Best.second.shooter.ever. Seriously. If any of you are ever looking for someone to shoot with you in the New York area, hit him up. He is the bomb.com.
We started off the wedding day at Desiree’s childhood home in Long Island, NY where her makeup was fabulously done by Carla of Dollface makeup.Desiree and Brian are both musically gifted so I thought it would be appropriate to incorporate a piano into her bridal portraits. While I was with the ladies, Peter headed over to grab some shots of the guys hanging out and getting ready.
Before the ceremony started a slideshow played on the screens, highlighting some key moments in Brian and Desiree’s relationship. Brian joked afterwards that he got the pictures, made the slideshow, and watched it a million times….and still cried like a baby when it played right before their wedding ceremony. Here we go!The pastor kept saying “Brian, you gotta stop crying otherwise I am not gonna be ale to make it through this ceremony…you are making me cry!”
Desiree and Brian each sang a song to the other person during the ceremony. The song they chose was a secret until their wedding day.Brian surprised Desiree by writing a song to sing for her. It was absolutely beautiful!Married! After the ceremony, we headed over to the Meadow Club in Port Jefferson, NY where their reception was to be held to do some of their portraits.Love those genuine smiles! At the end of Brian and Desiree’s first dance, they called up friends of their to also dance. This couple had the unfortunate mishap of the DJ losing their wedding song so they never had a first dance at their wedding. Being the incredibly kind and genuine people that Brian and Des are, they wanted their friends to experience a first dance so they made sure that the DJ had the song they were supposed to dane to at their wedding. Needless to say, this couple was very touched by this gesture.Brian’s brother, the best man, gave both a touching and hilarious speech. I think anyone who was a guest at their wedding can remember what was said to get this reaction but for Desiree’s sake, won’t repeat it. 😉Brian’s brother decided to play a little prank on Brian for the grabbing the garter. They blindfolded him to “make it harder to see”, but then his brother sat down in the chair instead of Desiree. Their guests thought this was quite hilarious. Brian did not.
