“We don’t want to look like typical American’s” – That was the first thing Kenneth and Julie said to me when discussing what look and feel we were going for with their engagement session. I assured them that they would not look like typical Americans. I mean, that would kinda be impossible anyway since they did not have a trace of American in them. Kenneth and Julie wanted engagement photos that were fun and sexy – two words that describe them perfectly.
When I lived in Denmark, Kenneth was one of my very best friends. He is actually more like a big brother. Naturally, I wanted him to marry a girl who is perfect….errr, perfect for HIM. To say the least, Kenneth is unique (and anyone who is reading this that knows him probably just laughed). Kenneth marches to the beat of his own drum. He doesn’t conform. He doesn’t need to follow the rules. In a culture taught from a young age to ask “Why?”, Kenneth asks “Why not?”. I always appreciated that about him. He loves his country and culture, but he never settled for just accepting things as they were – he was always striving to break the mold, and to redefine culture. I think that is why he and I got along so well.
I remember him sitting on my couch late one night, probably as we were watching “Death Race”, drinking coke, and eating Djunglevrål. He started telling me about this girl that he met and started seeing. And in that moment, something changed in him -his voice became softer, he spoke with sincerity. He was captivated. When Julie came into Kenneth’s life, I knew almost immediately that she was perfect for him. She knows who she is, and she is not intimidated by Kenneth’s drum-beat-marching. And not only does she know who she is, she knows she’s got him. All of him. I think from the first time they met, she had him. I mean, she is quite obviously drop dead gorgeous. But more than that, there was something about Julie that just captured the heart and soul of Kenneth.
She let’s him live freely. He lets her live freely. They serve each other. They adore each other. They live to make each other happy. And together, they march to a beat of a drum that they alone can hear.
These are the types of people I surround myself by, the types that I am honored to call friends. They love to love, and they love to live.
Meet Kenneth & Julie.
I love the architecture in Copenhagen! So many cool buildings to photograph in front of.
Kenneth and Julie pretty much laughed the entire time during their engagement session. They were all things silly and fun, which I love because silliness results in natural smiles 🙂
Didn’t I tell you they were sexy?
While we were shooting, a mutual friend of ours happened to ride by on a bike, so Kenneth and Julie decided to act like they were seriously making out for these photos. Jakob laughed and kept riding by.
I love this series
This, my friends, would be a perfect example of “marching to a beat of a different drum”. I said “Kenneth, can you give Julie a piggy back ride?”, and he said ‘Why? I think she should give me a piggy back ride”. And she did.
Julie, you are STUNNING!
Pretty sure this is one of my all-time-favorite engagement session photos!
Absolute favorite series of this e-session! When I saw the “Tomcat” sign, I HAD to get photos of them in front of it! hey played the part perfectly. 🙂
Tell Kenneth and Julie how much you love them here!
