Day 1 in Turkey and we are WIPED. Between a wedding on Saturday, 4 hour trip to and through NYC on Sunday, 7 hour flight Sunday night, 12 hour layover in Amsterdam on Monday, 3 hour flight to Istanbul Monday evening, 3 hour power nap overnight, and 1 hour flight to Izmir on Tuesday morning….we.are.exhausted. We got to our hotel this afternoon and decided to take a little nap, which turned into 1.5 hours and, frankly, I had no desire to get up. But I knew that if we wanted to see Ephesus that today was the day so, I threw on some makeup to cover up my dark circles and we headed out to explore. Luckily the weather was perfect and the breeze was entirely refreshing, so we’ve been able to stay awake until 10:30PM (about what it is now) and can now get a proper nights rest. But, man oh man, these first couple days have been a whirlwind of airports, trains, boats, and cars. The pictures don’t do the grand scheme of Ephesus any justice, but I hope that through them you can catch a little glimpse of the amazing history we soaked in today.
