For months & months she planned every detail, right down to the color of the napkins. She had a perfectly tailored gown and the shoes to match. She had created a well-thought out playlist and went to the cake testing. Most importantly she had her groom who would soon become her husband. And although she planned and scheduled and rehearsed, nothing could control what was on the way.
Rain. And lots of it. It dumped down from the bleak skies and showered the earth with its tiny, cold droplets. Rain poured from the gutters and drainpipes, and turned grass to mud int he beautiful garden venue she booked. It collected in puddles on pavement and the nearby river grew high. Rain took the sun as its prisoner and stopped him from shining…but it could not stop their wedding. And it wouldn’t.
Sure, Emily and Greg preferred the sun, and signature 72 and sunny skies for their Springtime wedding…but learning to dance in the rain was ok with them. As a strong and committed couple, they knew that life would have a few storms and held true to the belief that if they walk through in hand in hand, they will get their rainbow. A promise that light is on its way.
Today was no different. They would start their forever no matter the conditions; they did not need permission of the skies. The rain did not ruin their special day. In fact, it showered them with hope of a future. And as the rain continued on, they danced the night away, hand in hand together. Knowing that this day was the first of many amazingly beautiful days ahead, because they were in it together.
