Better late than never, right? Adam and I went to Cost Rica bak in December but I’m just now getting around to blogging it. Partly because I’ve been crazy busy, and party because I was waiting for the surfing photos to get sent to me. Back when we got married, we only had a few days to get away so I called our trip to Mexico our “minimoon” and our trip to Costa Rica our “full moon”. Adam called them our “honeymoon” and “vacation” so 10 year from now when people ask where we went on our honeymoon, he’s going to tell them Mexico and I’m going to tell them Costa Rica.
This trip was MUCH needed and came after a LONG wedding season. The first few days of the trip were spent doing nothing but sleeping and sitting by the pool. During the 16 days we were away we slept 10 hours almost every night, which was so refreshing. But anyone who knows me well knows a vacation isn’t a vacation without a little bit of adventure, so we went on a few excursions that were a ton of fun. While we both enjoyed all our excursions and activities, Adam loved surfing the most and I enjoyed canyoneering the most.
These pictures aren’t all the best. Many were taken with my phone or by the company we toured with, but I figured it’s better to have a lot of low quality images than to not have any images at all.
We started our trip by staying at the wonderful Villa Buena Onda in Playas Del Coco, which was a lovely boutique hotel.
While we were in Playas Del Coco, we took a day excursion to Tamarindo to try our hand at surfing.
Look at that concentration!
Adam was really proud of his surfing skills
While surfing, I had a little accident that resulted in this…
The next place we stayed in Guanacaste was the HUGE resort called RIU Palace. This place was definitely a switch from the quiet and peaceful Villa Buena Onda, but we had a ton of fun lounging by the pool with unlimited drinks and food.

After spending a week in Guanacaste, we made our way to rainforest and stayed in Arenal for another week. This was the view out the back of our room.
The first excursion we did in Arenal was ziplining over the “cloud forest”
We both really enjoyed horsebackriding through Arenal and to La Fortuna Waterfall, where we learned Beyonce visited a couple weeks prior.
This image caused a bit of….heated fellowship…between Adam and I. I gave him the camera for 5 minutes and asked him to take a few photos of me riding. He had a bit of an attitude and quickly shot a few. When we to back to the corral, I noticed they were all blurry. To say the least, I wasn’t very happy.

While in Arenal we also went canyoneering which was, y far, one of the coolest activities I’ve EVER done while traveling. We rappelled and hiked our way through a rain forest, climbing down waterfalls that wee 250ft tall.
Another view of Volcano Arenal from our hotel in Arenal
And a few outtakes from surfing. These will forever make me laugh…
What an incredible trip!!
wonderful! Thanks for sharing! (I love the puppy on the stairs)
