It was certainly not the day they envisioned or planned. The day they envisioned involved a sunny beach, sand between their toes, friends and family gathered around laughing, eating and drinking, tons of dancing and fun all around. A huge, celebratory event, to mark the day that they got married.
Nobody saw a pandemic coming, and certainly didn’t think there was anything that would cause everyone to be in lockdown in their homes.
But if you know Rob and Anna, you know that they are adaptable, stable, optimistic people who will make the best of every situation and find the silver lining. They knew they didn’t want to postpone their entire wedding until an unforeseen date (because who knows when we will be able to go back to “normal” life?) , so they decided to gather just 10 people, including themselves for a small ceremony in the backyard garden of Rob’s mothers home.
It may not have been ideal or what they originally envisioned, but it was perfect. It was honestly one of the most perfect and intimate weddings I’ve ever been a part of. What a joy it was to witness them saying their vows to each other, praying with one another right after their first look, and celebrating over an intimate dinner and glasses full of wine with their immediate family.
While they may have planned to have their friends and family surrounding them, what they didn’t know is that some of those friends planned their own little surprise and did a drive-by celebratory parade. The plan is still on for a Fall wedding (date TBD) for Rob and Anna to throw a massive celebration – and what a celebration it will be – with their family and friends, but for now this intimate wedding they had in the midst of a pandemic was the most beautiful way they could’ve started their marriage.
