She is one of a kind. With an incredible sense of humor to boot, not to mention the wit of a stand up comedian, when I first met Andrea I knew she was the kind of girl that could always make people laugh. And who doesn’t love that kinda of person? We met in school way back when….back when she had short spiky hair and mine was bleached blond. Wait, did I just admit to bleach blond hair. I think I did. But hers was spiky. We spent a year together in Florida and in between trips to Rita’s italian ice and car wishing fundraisers I saw that this girl named Andrea was a pretty incredible, and insanely cool, person.
Skip ahead 6 (?) years. Andrea contacted me and said she was getting married and wanted me to shoot her wedding. I wondered to myself who this lucky man was that won her heart. Andrea is known for being extroverted and fabulously opinionated so I thought that this guy, well he must be her opposite. I imaged a quiet guy, one who was slow to speak and shy in nature.
I flew to Wisconsin to meet them both for their GTKY shoot and I quickly realized that not only was James not her opposite but he, in fact, was very much like her. He caught me totally off guard with his fantastic jokes and witty banter. But as I spent more time with him over the next two days I realized that as much as he is like Andrea, he compliments her in so many ways. When wedding chaos was getting to be a bit too much, James grabbed her hand to let her know everything would be alright, and then got right back to working hard. He would hug her ever so slightly to assure her that her weddings dreams would be fulfilled. He is, in fact, absolutely perfect for her.
Andrea and James, thanks so much for a rocking party but, more importantly, more inviting me both as a friend and trusting me to capture those special memories!!
