They met 13 years ago, when Mike was teaching my lifeguard certification class. Being a swimmer Audrey had always seen him around the pool, and her Mom was impressed that he always said hello to her while she was watching swim practice, and joked to Audrey that she should should date him because he was so nice and polite. Fast forward a few years to when Audrey was working as a lifeguard in the summer, and they finally found their connection. However, a little summer spark and their budding little relationship came to a halt when Audrey moved away to Philly for college at the end of the summer.

But, somehow, when she would come back home, there was always that undeniable chemistry again.

Timing and distance had always been their issue. Years went by and they always stayed friends (but, make no mistake, foes during college basketball March Madness,). Fast forward again to Christmas a few years ago when something in the atmosphere shifted. They struck up a conversation after trading the usual Merry Christmas texts, and decided to meet up while Audrey was home for the holidays. They completely hit things off, however, a few days later Audrey would be leaving again to San Diego for her next assignment.

She moved away, again, and they both dated our other people. Over a year went by…we kept in touch here and there, but it was last year when things around. A little Facebook post from Mike somehow turned into a 4 hour phone conversation, and then daily constant conversations. And that’s when they just knew this time was different. Mike was sure that this was it, and told Audrey that he knew she would be the girl he married, whatever it took. They took monthly cross-country trips until this past February when Audrey was sent on an intricate scavenger hunt all around their hometown to places of significance in their relationship, with the last stop leading to the man of her dreams holding the most beautiful ring she’s ever seen.
